ARCHERY HISTORY

Archery is an ancient practice. This website explores archery history and the preservation of archery. This tool appears to have been first developed in the late paleolithic era (approx. 10,000 years ago) and is still currently in use. The bow and arrow were most likely the first human invention to both store and release energy. It was in widespread use on every continent except Australia, and archery continues to be practiced widely to this day. In ancient and medieval times, entire nations relied on the bow for their survival and as a means to wage war.
